Dale's B-day Party July 20, 2008

Kyrah and I went to Dale's 4 year old birthday party on the 20th. Daddy and Broc were at a baseball tourney so it was just the girls for most of the day, then Daddy came along after they lost. Kyrah was wearing her butterfly tank and spandix shorts - Grandpa made fun of her cubby legs - mean ol Grandpa!! Chub is cute on a 8 month old!

Here are some cute pictures of her practicing her standing....

Kyrah's First Tooth

It was a big weekend for Kyrah. We discovered her first tooth last night. We were shopping in Wal-Mart (ironically looking for food she could eat) when I just randomly put my finger in her mouth and felt a itty bitty tooth. It is on the bottom on the right side. Now the rash on her face makes more sense. It is probably from getting her tooth rather then an allergic reaction to some food she ate. My sister said I would definitly know when she started getting teeth because she would be crabby and up all night.... not such the case with my perfect baby! She hasn't been fussy at all and has slept great...Dennis and I have truly been lucky.
Here is a cute picture of her at a church picnic over the weekend sporting her cousin Lydia's cool shades. She has some of her own but won't leave them on very long. Dennis was able to snap a picture with his phone quickly to catch her in her glasses.

Ducky Theme Night

It just sort of happened but we had a theme night Tuesday night. Kyrah was playing in the bath tub and I finally remember to bring the camera in with me to snap some shots of this bathtub beauty and I caught her playing with her rubber ducky...

So after that we had to make it a theme night. She wore her ducky pjs and played on her ducky blanket (thank you Karen she loves it!) and played with her stuffed duck animals.

Water Babies

Kyrah had her first class of Water Babies at the local Community Center. She has been in the pool before and likes to play in the water. The class was to start at 10:30, but when we got there and changed and went to the pool, the instructor said it wouldn't start until 11:00. I knew this would not go well when she said that. So for the first 30 minutes Kyrah played in the kiddie pool area with the streams of water that shoot out. She had a great time and would try to catch the water in her hand. Look at her in her cute red monkey swimsuit! Ignore the camera quailty - it was a cell phone picture...

So when class finally started at 11:00 - she was starving. I had planned it so she would eat right after class which should have been over at 11 instead of starting at 11. Now for you and me a half hour difference on eating is not a big deal - for an 8 month old - it is a VERY big deal. She was fussy the entire class. She was in class with 2-3 year old kids so even though the teacher insisted she could do the same thing as the other kids, I just think it was a little advanced for her age. The teacher was expecting her to hold on to the side of the pool, then learn how to raise herself out of the water and to use her arms and legs to get out of the pool - she isn't even crawling yet how is she supposed to raise her entire body weight out of a pool... anyway, the rest of the class was Kyrah refusing to do the things the instructor wanted her to do like try to paddle her arms or lay her head back in the water. She was not into the class at all. Maybe next week will go better.

Picture update from the past few weeks

I have been writing about Kyrah lately but have not included many pictures. I just don't get them downloaded that quickly. So here are some pictures from July 4th.

Lydia and her cousins playing with smoke bombs - safety was a second thought to them this 4th of July - luckily no serious injuries...

This is Grandpas feeding Kyrah some ice cream cake from Dairy Queen. It has red whip cream icing on it - note her pretty red lips! Also note he fed her too much then then when Grandma picked her up - she threw it up on her.

Mean Uncle Steve! Usually Kyrah doesn't like it when he holds her usually because he picks on her or scares her, but she must have warmed up to him this time.

This is a normal thing for Kyrah - has to have her binki. She is wearing her cutie July 4th outfit that her cousins - Jess, Anna and Dale bought for her and her "First 4th of July bib".

July 18, 2008

Kyrah has had some big moments the past week. Lately, she has learned to clap her hands by herself. She would beat them together but with closed fist, now she has her hands open - like a real clap and she will do it when we say "yeah". Well - will sometimes do it. She also has been eating more solid foods - mainly at the baby sitters. I know she had real green beans and french fries yesterday and last week they gave her a snickerdoodle cookie. I don't mind the green beans, but I am going to try to keep her away from the sweets.

She is no closer to crawling. She will pick her belly up off the floor now but doesn't get anywhere. She will scoot backwards when she is on her belly and raises her self up, but I don't think she means to do it, it just happens based on physics.

She has grown a strong attachment to me and Daddy. She will prefer us to anyone else, but doesn't have a prefernce between the two of us. I think that is good. Daddy of course gets to spend time with her when he picks her up from day care around 4:30 until I come home around 6 or 6:30, then I get her so she gets a good mix of both of us.

Her eyes still have not changed all the way. The middle look to be a green/brown ish color but the outsides are still the blue/grey from birth. I am still hoping for green eyes like Daddy but either way they will be beautiful.

And Kyrah's biggest moment this past week was on the 12th when she turned 8 months old. She weighed 17.6 lbs.

July 9, 2008

Kyrah enjoyed her first July 4th. We watched fireworks on July 3rd at our neighbors house. Keep in mind her bedtime is 8 pm so it was pretty late for her. She just stared at the bright lights. She watched the cones the best as that was at her eye level. She would always look up at the ones in the sky too late. She would hear the sound and by the time she looked up, the sparkles were gone.

On July 4th we went to Lydia's house as her birthday is on this holiday, so every 4th of July we have a birthday/Independence Day party. Kyrah did well, it was too cold to go swimming even though all the other kids went. Grandpa gave her ice cream and whip cream from Lydia's Dairy Queen cake. Kyrah loves ice cream, but I think Grandpa gave her too much because 15 minutes later when Grandma was holding her, it all came back up. Of course the whip cream was died red so it stained both Kyrah's adorable dress and Grandma's shirt.

That evening she watched the fireworks again - bigger ones this time. She was not bothered by the noise at all. Over all it was a great day.

Little Quirks

I love noticing some of Kyrah's habbits or little quirks. I noticed that she still crosses her ankles when she is sitting in her car seat or sleeping - such a cute little quirk. She even had her legs crossed in my belly according to the ultrasound tech.

When she was a tiny baby she would hold her hands together a lot. She isn't doing that as much anymore, but will on occasion.

Swim Time Fun

Love my Daddy!!

Kyrah did not like her sponge baths that she got when she was a newborn. Then she moved up to the small bathtub that you put on the counter and fill with water and she layes back in. That was slightly better. At first she is in a little net that reminds me of a hamick. As she grew, the net was taken away and she leaned back at an angle. She eventually came to like bath time. Now that she sits up she is in the adult bathtub just like a big girl. This stage started about a month ago. During this process she has learned to splash! Well translate that to a huge pool and she is a splashing maniac. She really likes being in the water and splashing her hands in the water. We are signed up for waterbabies at our local community center. It is a class to get babies accustomed to water - I don't think Kyrah will have any problems.

Happy July 4th to Everyone!

I am a sucker for taking pictures of Kyrah, so knowing that I wanted to send a Happy July 4th picture out to everyone I got her ready for some good photos. I could not find a cute red, white and blue outfit, so we just went with a white dress and added accesories!

Kyrah is such a happy baby. We went on a girls trip this past weekend (the last weekend of June) with Christie, Diana, Trina, and Karen. We went the the Lake of the Ozarks and went shopping on Saturday. I don't know how many people stopped me to tell me what a happy baby I had. We are blessed with Kyrah - she is just such a wonderful little person. I think all the girls had fun being with her this weekend and getting to see what it is like being a Mom. Diana even got a present in the diaper she changed! Daddy told us we couldn't go away anymore because he missed us too much.
