So good at crawling

Kyrah has been crawling for a few weeks now and she has got it down! She now crawls in the traditional crawl - hands and knees. It only took her about a week and a half to figure out the best way to crawl. Now she will do what Daddy calls a power burst where she will take off really fast for about 3-4 feet then slow down to a normal crawl. She has also been raising herself up on her feet with her hands down. It looks like she wants to stand but doesn't know how to get up without pulling up on something. Here is a picture of her doing it.

She has also learned that if she wants to bring a toy with her when she crawls to carry it in her mouth - she really does look like a little puppy dog sometimes.

Chloe's Soccer Game & Park

Last Saturday on 9-21-08 Kyrah and I went to watch Chloe play soccer at the local park. She is in 2nd grade and is on a "competative" soccer team. She is actaully very good at the game and enjoys it a lot. Here are some pictures of Chloe in action. Kyrah of course clapped at everything - even when the other team scored.Kyrah was on the sidelines - watching the game closely....

After the game ended in a tie, we headed up to the swings and slides to enjoy the park. Check out this cool cat in her swing -

She actually blends into the rocks with her snazzy leapord pants - it has a matching top, but it has long sleeves and the day warmed up so she was more comfortable in just a short sleeved onsie.

Kyrah has had at least two big events - 1) she is crawling and 2) she got sick for the first time. I will start with the more fun crawling event. For the past month and a half she would lean forward and get up on her hands and a knee and a foot usually, but she just wouldn't go anywhere. Then she would move backwards because she would fall down to her belly then push herself up on her hands and slide back. She didn't really like doing this and it didn't last long. About 2 weeks ago she started crawling. At first it looked like she would get up on her hands and her knees or a knee and a foot then would sit back down - this would move her a few inches at a time … and she would repeat - up on the knees down on her butt…up on her knees down on her butt. This was cute and she didn't move that far so you didn't have to worry about her crawling off. She did this for a few days, then she actually started crawling - not the traditional hands and knees, but more hands on knee perpendicular to her body and one foot on the ground and she would move forward doing that. Now she is much better at crawling - she will still do it a bit odd, but I have seen her crawl the traditional way as well. It only took 9 1/2 months before she started crawling. Way to go Kyrha! Great Job! Here are some pics of her crawling around the kitchen.

She thinks she is hot stuff sitting under the table!

We learned this morning that we need to go through the house and move some things. She crawled from our bedroom to the kitchen and started playing with Lupa's food.

Other fun things that she does is wave bye and hi, though she has done that for awhile now, and she will give you five - most of the time. We are working on blowing kisses, but that is proving very difficult. And she likes to make the Indian noise with her mouth - she will say something and we have to pat her mouth so it changes noise.

She also had another sad moment. She actually got sick for the first time this week. On Monday night she threw up at 1:30. I heard her make a little noise and I knew something was not right. I jumped out of bed and went over and the poor little peanut had thrown up all over herself and on her bed stuff. Dad came over and cleaned up the bed while I cleaned up Kyrah. There were green beans everywhere. Kyrah and I came out to the couch to sleep - I didn't want her to be alone. Then she threw up again at 2 - not very much, I guess there was just a little more badness left in her tummy. After that she finally slept well (on me). Then all week long the poor thing has had mushy poops. Daycare had to give her a bath one day she messed her pants so bad. That lasted pretty much Monday to Thursday. Thursday was a bit better so I am hoping it is all over. The good thing is that she never was cranky or upset, just not as peppy as usual. I really need to count myself lucky that she is 10 months today and has just now gotten sick. She must take after Dad on her immunities.

Labor Day Weekend

We had a nice relaxing Labor Day weekend. Lots of family time. On Friday and Saturday we had a yard sale at my house which I think I am going to pass on doing next year - lot of work and it was mainly my sister's stuff so it is not like I cleaned out my house. Anyway, Sunday Kyrah, Grandma, Tina, Connie, Nick, Lydia, Jimmy and I went to a local picnic. It was very hot, but Kyrah liked watching the tractors and liked people watching. Here she is playing in her stroller and sitting with Grandma.

On Monday we went to the cabin to watch Grandpa work on building his new pond. It was a little cooler that day. The cabin is okay. It is about an hour away from our house in Perryville, MO. There is not a lot to do there, but the kids like it because they get to play in the pond (Grandpa built them a little beach area) and unless you like fishing you just pretty much sit around and talk or play a board game. This is what the older kids do all day at the cabin.

Here is Grandpa taking a break from the new pond giving Kyrah her bottle.

Daddy even let Kyrah drive the truck for a bit when we were going from the cabin to the new pond across the field. She liked this part.

She is not crawling yet in the traditional crawl, although she has her own way to get from A to B. She does this odd hands down, one foot on the ground with her knee up and one knee on the ground sort of crawl. It is not fast, but she eventually gets to the toy she wants.

Yesterday I got to see our friend Michelle with her baby Ben who is 2 weeks older then Kyrah and Christie and Lillie. We all went to lunch, too bad Kyrah couldn't come, but maybe over Christmas when Ben and Michelle visit again. He is bigger then Kyrah - longer at least and weighs just a bit more. He is a cutie and doing all sorts of fun things. Lillie is growing as well. She is almost 4 weeks old and she looked so cute in her little girly outfit.

First Bo-Bo

I am so sad - it was Kyrah's first big bo-bo. She likes to play in the tub and now that she is a little more mobile (she gets from A to B but not in a traditional crawl) she has been moving around a lot in the tub. Well I had on hand on her and was reaching for the soap when she moved forward and started falling. I was able to stop her from hitting her head on the side of the tub but her cheek hit her plastic bin for toys. Oh she screamed and it started brusing right away. I felt terrible. She stopped crying after about a minute, but it felt like forever. Here is a picture of her little bo-bo.

I know it is a little hard to see but it is the red spot on her right cheak. It stayed bruised for about a week. I told her she was not allowed to have anymore bo-bos. They are too traumatic for me.

Crazy Hair

This won't be much of a post, but I have felt bad that I have not posted in awhile - ugh work is getting busy.
So here is Kyrah's crazy hair day! She came home from daycare and it was standing straight up - they said she woke up like that - talk about bed head!
