Memorial Day May 26, 2008

This was Kyrah's frist trip to "The Cabin". A cabin my Dad built on the property he grew up on. We went down on Sunday and all her cousins were there. Here is the entire Propst Grandchild clan:

I like the picture better in the Sepia - it kind of fits with the cabin - old time feel. She did enjoy her weekend though. She got lots of Mom and Dad time, so that makes her happy. Not that she doesn't like it at daycare as well, but I think we give her extra kisses and hugs.
This weekend was the first time, I experience attitude with her. She is getting more demanding and wanting things NOW - or doesn't want to be in a certain position. She will now tense up and do a little scream for a few seconds. At first it was cute, but now that it has happend for a few days, it is just attitude. It is not an issue ... yet.. and I am hoping she will not develop into temper tantrums.
She is officially sitting up by herself now also. We still put a pillow behind her because she will throw herself back and I don't want her to hurt her little noddle.
She is also very close to holding her own bottle. She will do it but not well and usually she doesn't know to tilt it up, but she will grab onto it. And her new favorite toy this week is the remote control to the satalite - we never know what channel she will turn it to next.

May 14, 2008

Kyrah turned 6 months old on the 12th. The first 3 months went by slow. I think because I was home with her all the time, but these past 3 months have gone really fast. She is already in 6-9 month clothes. It seems like she was in 0-3 until she was around 4 months old or so then in 3-6's for only a few months. Most of the clothes don't fit her length, the belly and arms are fine, but the snaps are a struggle to get together sometimes.

We had some big events recently. She slept through the night for the past two nights now. She woke up each night, but put herself back to sleep each time. I have put 3-4 binkis in her crib with her, I am not sure if she finds them and puts them in her mouth or just falls back asleep with out them. Either way ...oh want a nice feeling. Although it didn't matter too much because the dog - Lupa woke me up each night and I woke up on my own, wondering why Kyrah wasn't crying. I think that is just the Mother in me and the natural instinct. My friend Lisa tells me, that I will do this for as long as they live in my house.
This photo was taken at Broc's baseball game on May 4th. She loves being outside. She has moved on to fruits at dinner time now. They have not gone over very well. She has tried applesauce and pears - both make her pucker up. I think we will try banannas next.

May 6, 2008

Kyrah is so much fun at this age. This picture was taken on 4/5/2008 so she is almost 4 months old. She is 5 and a half months old now. She is laughing and smiles all the time. She really laughes when you put a stuffed animal or dall in front of her and act like it is talking to her. She is also starting to laugh at the dog. Last night we were sitting on the front porch swing watching Lupa play in the yard and Kyrah just laughed at Lupa everytime she moved. She is also becoming much more curious. The other day she was in her car seat and had two toys hanging down from the handle. With her left hand she reached above the toy and grabbed the ring the toy was hanging from. She is also getting close to sitting up by herself. She can do the frog sit - like a tripod where she is leaning forward and holds her upper body up with her hands on the floor. Sometimes she will fall to the side sitting like that. You also have to be behind her in case she bucks back and you have to catch her.

She is doing very well eating at night. She has rice cereal and two veggies each night. Everytime she takes a bite she makes a "ummm" noise with it. She also tried apple juice this weekend while at Lydia's (her cousin) First Communion party. Kyrah seemed to like it but she had her brow furrowed at first- I think just a new taste.

Kyrah has moved to the adult bathtub. She doesn't seem to like it very much. I am putting her on a raised mesh baby holder and put the yellow bear sponge on top of that. The sponge seems to help keep her from rolling to the sides. I don't trust the mesh stand by itself. It is much more difficult to bathe her this way because I have to lean over the tub rather then standing at the kitchen sink with he in her baby bathtub. I thought she would like the bigger tub better becasue she could play and splash more, but that hasn't proven the case yet.

Kyrah - Month 1

Kyrah was so tiny when she was born. Only 6 lbs and 15 ozs, but she left the hospital at 6 lbs 6 ozs which is normal for a baby to drop weight at first. While we were in the hospital she had so many vistors. My family all stopped by to see her and many of Dennis' family came to see her, my friends from work came down and brought her presents and ballons.I had her on a Monday and we left the hospital on Wednesday. She looked so small in her car seat on her first trip home.

Dennis stayed home from work on Thursday to help Kyrah settle in, but went back to work on Friday. Then Grandma and Aunt Tina stopped by to help me out. You were a good baby during the first month, you would nurse a lot but unlike other babies, you were alert during the day, staying awake for long stretches. You also liked to move around and "go for walks" through the house. You would make the cutest little "O" face with your lips... you would take a breath then when you were letting it out your lips would make and "O".

During this month, was also Thanksgiving on the 22nd (my birthday - 32 years old). Everyone loved seeing you and just wanted to hold you. When we were at the Stuppy's you were a sleepy head and woke up to nurse but you were having such a hard time nursing that you cried and cried. I felt awful, but you eventually ate and were happy again.

We spent most of this month at home, just learning about you and trying to make you happy. For this month Dennis and I would take turns sleeping with you on the couch. Usually, I slept with you on the couch because it was just easier since you were nursing, but every now and then Dennis would take over once in awhile. You would like to be held but would sleep in your pack and play every once in awhile, or you would sleep in your swing. You did not like your crib at all - I think it was too big of a space for you.

We had Clary Pfiefer, a professional photographer come and take your newborn pictures. You were 6 days old. Here are some of the pictures.
