Jonah #3

At a recent outdoor city festival (maybe 2-3 weeks ago) a local pet store was giving away "free" fish. So of course they see me walking with my 3 kids and pounce on us. Needless to say we went home with a "free" goldfish, a $7 bowl, $2.00 bag of rocks, $1.00 plastic vine and $4.00 fish food. We get home and put the fish in his new home. Four hour later he is dead, floating at the top of the bowl. Luckily Kyrah did not get attached to the fish and in fact never even remembered she had one because I flushed him and removed the bowl before she could look at it again.

This past weekend, 11/6 we went to the Fall Festival at the local school where they have games for kids to play. One of the games was to throw a ping pong ball into a small fish bowl. If you did you won a fish. Well $5 in tickets later, Kyrah ends up winning another goldfish. This one she is very proud of and carries it out to the car in its little bag. We set up the bowl and feed it then off to bed we go. The next morning Jonah #2 was not quite dead, but you knew it wasn't going to be long.... which it wasn't.

So yesterday I stopped at the pet store and told them the tragedies we have experienced. They sent me home with a Beta and some chemicals to purify the water. As a result we have Jonah #3 and a happy Kyrah.

So this all started out with a free fish that now has a cost of $21.00. Well it is less work then a puppy.
