July 18, 2008

Kyrah has had some big moments the past week. Lately, she has learned to clap her hands by herself. She would beat them together but with closed fist, now she has her hands open - like a real clap and she will do it when we say "yeah". Well - will sometimes do it. She also has been eating more solid foods - mainly at the baby sitters. I know she had real green beans and french fries yesterday and last week they gave her a snickerdoodle cookie. I don't mind the green beans, but I am going to try to keep her away from the sweets.

She is no closer to crawling. She will pick her belly up off the floor now but doesn't get anywhere. She will scoot backwards when she is on her belly and raises her self up, but I don't think she means to do it, it just happens based on physics.

She has grown a strong attachment to me and Daddy. She will prefer us to anyone else, but doesn't have a prefernce between the two of us. I think that is good. Daddy of course gets to spend time with her when he picks her up from day care around 4:30 until I come home around 6 or 6:30, then I get her so she gets a good mix of both of us.

Her eyes still have not changed all the way. The middle look to be a green/brown ish color but the outsides are still the blue/grey from birth. I am still hoping for green eyes like Daddy but either way they will be beautiful.

And Kyrah's biggest moment this past week was on the 12th when she turned 8 months old. She weighed 17.6 lbs.

July 9, 2008

Kyrah enjoyed her first July 4th. We watched fireworks on July 3rd at our neighbors house. Keep in mind her bedtime is 8 pm so it was pretty late for her. She just stared at the bright lights. She watched the cones the best as that was at her eye level. She would always look up at the ones in the sky too late. She would hear the sound and by the time she looked up, the sparkles were gone.

On July 4th we went to Lydia's house as her birthday is on this holiday, so every 4th of July we have a birthday/Independence Day party. Kyrah did well, it was too cold to go swimming even though all the other kids went. Grandpa gave her ice cream and whip cream from Lydia's Dairy Queen cake. Kyrah loves ice cream, but I think Grandpa gave her too much because 15 minutes later when Grandma was holding her, it all came back up. Of course the whip cream was died red so it stained both Kyrah's adorable dress and Grandma's shirt.

That evening she watched the fireworks again - bigger ones this time. She was not bothered by the noise at all. Over all it was a great day.

Little Quirks

I love noticing some of Kyrah's habbits or little quirks. I noticed that she still crosses her ankles when she is sitting in her car seat or sleeping - such a cute little quirk. She even had her legs crossed in my belly according to the ultrasound tech.

When she was a tiny baby she would hold her hands together a lot. She isn't doing that as much anymore, but will on occasion.

Swim Time Fun

Love my Daddy!!

Kyrah did not like her sponge baths that she got when she was a newborn. Then she moved up to the small bathtub that you put on the counter and fill with water and she layes back in. That was slightly better. At first she is in a little net that reminds me of a hamick. As she grew, the net was taken away and she leaned back at an angle. She eventually came to like bath time. Now that she sits up she is in the adult bathtub just like a big girl. This stage started about a month ago. During this process she has learned to splash! Well translate that to a huge pool and she is a splashing maniac. She really likes being in the water and splashing her hands in the water. We are signed up for waterbabies at our local community center. It is a class to get babies accustomed to water - I don't think Kyrah will have any problems.

Happy July 4th to Everyone!

I am a sucker for taking pictures of Kyrah, so knowing that I wanted to send a Happy July 4th picture out to everyone I got her ready for some good photos. I could not find a cute red, white and blue outfit, so we just went with a white dress and added accesories!

Kyrah is such a happy baby. We went on a girls trip this past weekend (the last weekend of June) with Christie, Diana, Trina, and Karen. We went the the Lake of the Ozarks and went shopping on Saturday. I don't know how many people stopped me to tell me what a happy baby I had. We are blessed with Kyrah - she is just such a wonderful little person. I think all the girls had fun being with her this weekend and getting to see what it is like being a Mom. Diana even got a present in the diaper she changed! Daddy told us we couldn't go away anymore because he missed us too much.

June 19, 2008

Man I am falling behind. Kyrah has had some big events this past two weeks. She had her first night away from home June 6th when we went to Sullivan, MO for Broc's Baseball Tournament. She slept in the bed with me and Broc and Dennis slept in a bed together. I didn't get much sleep that first night because I was so worried she would roll off the bed so I put her in the middle of it, which means I had no room. Plus she had her feet next to my belly and would kick me all night long. The second night went better.

She also had her first trip out of state Father's day weekend to Jackson, TN. Again another ball tournamnet. This was a 3 hour drive and she did great. She also went to her first double AA game - so did Mommy!

She also had her 7th month birthday on June 12th and we have started giving her cereal at each meal now, before she only got ate baby food twice a day.

The sitter said it was time to start cheerios, but I think they seem too hard for her, like she will not mush it up and will try to swallow it whole. I guess I just have to try it and see how it goes.

Kyrah still has some of the same habits she has since she was born. She likes to hold her hands together. She is still spitting a lot - the cute kind of spitting where she makes her lips vibrate - she will do this during meal time as well and get her food everywhere.

Now when she takes a bottle she will raise one hand over her eyes and drink it with her eyes closed.

We went to Aunt Tina's yesterday and went swimming. Kyrah loves to splash the water which surprises me because it gets on her face and I am surprised she likes that.
Here she is in the hotel showing off her sunflower.

June 1, 2008

Kyrah is getting such a personality. She is a great baby. She does not fuss much and can play by herself on the floor -sitting up for 30-45 minutes at a time. She will laugh a lot and eats, sleeps well. Most of this blog has been about the wonderful things she does and how great she is - don't get me wrong she had been a great baby, but there are times when it is a challenge. She still wakes up in the night - we don't have to go to her now that she knows how to put her pacifier in, but she will make a lot of noise which wakes us up. She doesn't like lotion time either - right after her bath we put her on the changing table to put lotion and her pjs on - well I am not sure if she is cold, hungry or just doesn't want to lay down, but she will fuss when we put lotion on. She will often fuss when she is in her high chair waiting for us to make her dinner - but who blames her on that - I don't like waiting for food either. Other then that it is just a random fuss to change postions or get a different toy. When she was really little around the 2nd month she was on this kick that only I could hold her and make her happy - that was a challenge espically after being with her all day long and I wanted a break but Dennis holding her just didn't cut it.

Overall she has been an excellent baby and if I could guarantee all my babies would be like her I would have a bunch.

Here is Kyrah on June 1st showing off her snazzy July 4th dress - which will probably not fit her by the time July 4th rolls around...
