1st Sled Ride

With the 7 inches of ice and snow we got Monday night into Tuesday, Kyrah was able to go on her first sledding ride today 1-28-09. She liked being outside watching all the other kids. She didn't even seem to mind the snow, but when it got to walking in it - no way. She didn't even really like standing in it.

Here she is getting ready to go in the snow. She actually likes her mittens. She insisted I put them on her Tuesday night and she walked around the house with them on waving at everyone.

Oh so safe in Daddy's arms!

Daddy is pulling her around in her sled. She still needs to work in her balance because as soon as they started going up the hill she fell back.

Ready...get set....go....
Her eyes were huge! She never cried, but I am uncertain if she liked it or not. Overall she went down the hill three times. We headed inside after that - just too cold for a little girl that is getting over RSV and ear infections.

Cutie Outfit 1-23-09

Kyrah had to pose for me this weekend. I was trying to get some good pictures of her to put on her Valentine's cards. Below are some of the better ones that I used.

I am amazed she is smiling at all - she had a rough week. Last Sunday she started coughing and because she is rarely sick I took her to the doc on Monday. She was diagnosed with RSV - yuck! So all week she had to stay out of day care. Dennis had her on Tuesday, Mom had her Wed and Thur and I took her back to the doc on Friday. It did get worse during the week, luckily it was never just awful. We did breathing treatments and Tylenol every 4-5 hours, I think starting the treatments early helped her. The RSV though caused her to have a double ear infection by Friday so now she is on anti-biotic to help that. She is still coughing has has a runny nose, but her fever broke on Thursday night so that has at least put her in a better mood.
She also learned how to shake her head 'No'. So now when we ask her questions everything is No, but usually she does not actually mean no. We are trying to shake our heads "yes" so she can learn both. She is getting better about pointing to objects in books too. She will point to the monkey, ball, cow and pig oh and she LOVES when the page has a frog on it. Not becuase she loves frogs but because Daddy tickles her neck when they turn to a frog so now she expects that every time. She also really likes the two picks Christie gave her for her birthday which are Millie Moo and Rainbow Rob - mainly because they have things to feel in them. She is really into feeling the differnt textures of things. All part of her learning process.
Oh and when she went to the doctor this week she weighed 21 lbs 8 ozs on Monday and 21 lbs on Friday. She didn't eat a lot this week while she was sick.

Cabin Party 1-17-09

My Dad has spent a lot of time building and adding things to his cabin. This is the ground that his Grandparents owned and now he owns. All the original structures are gone and he has built a log cabin and his most recent addition is the "pool". He built the pond a long time ago and up until recently it had a swimming area that just had sand leading into the pond. Well this winter he decided to upgrade this area. He drained the pond, built a retaining wall and will pour a concrete floor on the lower part of the picture. The fence keeps the kids in the shallow area. This Part is only 40-45 inches deep. The top part where there is dirt will be filled with sand to play with and then my Mom reminded him that Kyrah and the twins will not have anywhere to play so he dug out the little round circle part and made that into "Peanuts Pool". It will fill up with about 16-18 inches of water. Keep in mind this is all pond water.

On Saturday Dad had a small cabin party. Kyrah liked walking around and being outside. Here she is on the cabin porch.

Look how happy she is to be playing outside. I don't know why but I really didn't think we would be outside that much considering it was only 40 degrees, but when we got there everyone was sitting around a fire outside. Well I didn't pack her heavy coat or gloves...those are her extra pair of socks on her hands... that actually worked out just fine.

New Toy 1-17-09

Kyrah got this tunnel system for Christmas. It has a few more pieces, but that gets too large for our house and she seems content with just the two. She likes to crawl in it then look out at you and play peek-a-boo. Plus she is wearing her oh so cute jeans that are too small for her now :-(
Her 12 months clothes are about at the end, most of them are too small at this point so we are making the switch over to 18 mths.

A few days ago Daddy bought Kyrah a little tykes slide. She crawls up on side then slides down the other. She likes standing on top of it and looking over the side at someone and saying "Hey" and you are supposed to say "Hey" back. It is great fun for her. Although it makes me a bit nervous because she could fall down either side if she is not careful. So usually someone has to stand by it and watch her. She also gets help down the slide, I am sure in a few months she will be a pro at it.
Look at me about to go down the slide....this doesn't seem so bad...
Oh wait you mean I have to let go...hmm I am not sure that is a good idea...

Fourteen Months Old

Tomorrow Kyrah will be 14 months old. I do have a hand written journal next to my bed for her that I have slacked off on - the computer is just so much quicker, so I wanted to give a little idea of her schedule.

Kyrah starts her day somewhere between 6:30 and 7:00 am. Typically she sleeps through the night with no problem but every once in awhile she will wake up crying. If it is a weekday we have to get her up no later then 6:45 and then she gets dropped off at day care by 7:15. She will eat breakfast between 7 and 7:30. She loves butter and jelly toast as well as pancakes, eggs, bananas, and ceral. She has two teeth on the bottom - those were the first two she ever got. She also has on front tooth and the tooth to the right of that. The left front tooth is visible but still growing. She just has not grown teeth very fast. But with what she has, she is able to bite off food. We can give her a cracker and she can take bites out of it. I still cute up most of her food and know I cut it smaller then daycare, but that is the Mom in me. After breakfast it is play time until about 9 to 9:30. It seems like we have to put her down for a nap by 9:30 or she is way to cranky to deal with. Recently I tried to skip the morning nap and have her only take the afternoon nap. She was not able to deal with that. She still needs a morning and afternoon nap. Daycare limites her morning nap to 30 minutes. I usually let her sleep as long as she wants - but it is never more then an hour or so.
Lunch is usually 10:45 to 11:30. She is a great eater and doesn't have much she doesn't like. She eats apple slices, peaches and pears. We have tried grapes, but without much luck. She is still too little for citrus types of fruits. As far as vegatables she likes them all. I am surprised that she is only so so on potatos. When we are at restraurants and giver her fries she really doesn't seem too interested and most kids loves french fries. Her favorite is still the green bean. She eats lots of meats including hambuger, chicken, ham, turkey, hot dogs and fish.
After lucnch it is playtime again for a bit. Then we try to put her down for a nap somewhere between 12 and 1 - depending on how late she slept in the morning. Nap time usually lasts anywhere from 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours. Once she wakes up she gets a snack with milk and and back to playtime. If she is at daycare we pick her up between 4:30 and 5 - Daddy picks her up because Mommy works way to far away. She gets dinner around 5:15 to 5:30. After that we play, then it is bathtime at 6:30. By 7 pm she is on our lap on the couch having a sippy cup of warm milk. She doesn't fall asleep on us. After we know she is done with her milk we kiss her goodnight and tell her to have sweet dreams then put her down in her crib. She will fall asleep on her own then.
She still LOVES her pacifier and likes to have one in her mouth at night and hold on to the others that are in her crib. When she wakes up in the morning I see that she has collected them all and likes to throw them over the side of the crib. I know we should take it away because once the twins come there is no way we will be able to give a pacifier and not Kyrah, but it is so hard becuase she LOVEs it so much.
As far as playtime goes. It is a lot of walking around. Taking toys from one spot to the other. She has baby dolls that she walks around with. She likes to look at books. Kyrah will also put objects into a container or take things out - usually doesn't matter what it is. She actualy has a box of scrap paper that she takes out of the box and puts on the floor then puts them back - most of the time it doesn't have to be a fancy toy. She also loves to take things out of the cabinet up until recently she would just walk around with it but now she throws it away. When she is playing with us, she will throw a ball, or point out our nose, eyes and ears. She doesn't know mouth yet. She just learned where her belly is and will raise her shirt up and show you.
She knows and understands so many things, but still will not say very much and she will not answer a question when asked "Who am I" or something like that.
She has some bad habits too. I notice she gets frustrated fairly easily. If she can't get a toy out then she will start crying and sit on the floor and put her head down throwing a little Kyrah tantrum. She is good at riding in a car, it does help that we have a DVD player in the van and that keeps her attention.
When she smiles really big she has this little dimple up high on her right cheek. I am still undetermined on the color of her eyes - they are not brown, sometimes they look green - but it is more of a mossy green not the bright emerald green (Daddy's are the mossy green color) and sometimes they have a grey/blue appearance. She has always had wonderful hair and it is really long now for her age. She wears clips and pony tails when she will sit still long enough for me to put them in.
She put her walking to the test a few weeks ago when it was nice out and she walked on uneven surfaces - as expected quite a few falls, but she didn't seem to mind.

Loves the Trash Can!!

Here are some cute pics of Kyrah last night - out of order, but you get the idea. Bathtime is still fun for her, and he tolerates the water being poured over her head to get the shampoo out, although she doesn't like it (but who would).

The last fews days she has really been into her books and will go pick one out come to you then she has to sit on your lap and you read (aka flip the pages too fast to even get one sentence in) the book. Then she walks over to the shelf, picks a new one and you start over. She does have this one favorite book which is about 4-5 cardboard pages and each page is one certain color and there is something to feel on each page. Her favorite page is a bumby green frog. This paticular book she is reading with Daddy is Dora - I have no idea where this book came from - probably a "donation" from cousin Lydia!

Mom - why do you always have a camera pointed at me!!

So her new favorite thing is throwing things away. We have to take an old magazine and rip out one page at a time then she walks it over to the trash can and throws it away and comes back for another page. This is great for actual trash. This morning I found many many other things that were not trash in the trash can. The cabinet next to the trash can is our pantry and she went in that and picked out soup mixes, noodles, etc and put them in the trash, as well has a few of her sippy cups, some magnets - basically everything goes in the trash now.

Kyrah's 1st Hockey Game

This is a bit out of order, but I forgot to blog on it. Kyrah went to her first professional sporting event on Dec. 5, 2008. All four of us attended the Blues Hockey game. We had great seats thanks to my contacts at the Blues (free is the best way to go!) Kyrah actually did great. The nice thing at the hockey games is there is always something to look at even when the play is not going on. The Blues have lights and music going all the time so that helped to hold her attention. We stayed until the middle of the 3rd period which was way past her bedtime. So at that point I took her to the bathroom and put her pjs on knowing she would fall asleep on the way home and we could just put her straight to bed.
Unfortunally the Blues lost in overtime this night.

Woo hoo - the Blues scored!!!!

28 Weeks Prego

Just for Krissy... here I am at 28 weeks with twins. Wow in just 10 weeks these two babies will be born (in my head I decided I would not go past 38 weeks:-)

More Christmas!

On January 3, 2009 we had Christmas with Daddy's side of the family. Kyrah wore the cutest red velvet pants with a FaLaLa shirt (and of course a pretty bow in her hair!). We tried to plan this one better and was hoping she would take a long morning nap - well 45 minutes is all we got, so of course when the party starts at 12:30 which is nap time, she was pretty tired at the beginning. After eating I took her for a car ride to let her get a nap in. She is just not able to sleep when there is so much activity. She doesn't see the Stuppy side of the family as much as she sees my side so it took her a little while to warm up to them. She did a great job of showing off her new walking skills.

Here she is with Chase. He is 2 months older then Kyrah. They liked looking at each other, but didn't really play together. Chase brought a toy cell phone that Kyrah loved walking around with and Chase did NOT like Kyrah having. Sharing will need to be something we work on.

Kyrah and Mommy! She likes to sit behind me and play with my hair.

This little dog was not even hers! It was Chase's present, but Kyrah thought it was really cool.
